The manufacturing process differs but cut pile carpets may all look similar.
• Loop Pile : Generally refers to woven carpets.

Quality

Knowing your carpet
• Shag pile carpet or frieze carpets as it’s sometime referred.

Saxony carpets are dense and level cut pile, made of closely packed yarns.
They have a soft, smooth surface.
• Wool Carpets – 80 /20, 50/50 or 100%.
This is when 80% or 50% wool is mixed with 20% or 50% Synthetic fibres like nylon or polyester respectively.
Berber usually 100% is usually preferred to avoid the synthetic fibres.
• Twist pile carpets as the name suggests.
They are carpets that have been tightly twisted with a textured surface.
• Striped Carpets refer primarily to the design and not the quality of the carpet.
Striped carpets can be a type of any of the qualities mentioned above.
They were traditionally carpets used on stairs, hallways and landing.
Now, as carpet specialists, we see that they are used in almost all areas of the house (Lounge, Bedrooms etc).
Striped Carpets are available in loop or cut pile.
• Landlord Specials are usually low cost carpets very popular with Landlords.
They are used in rented accommodation. They can be a form of loop or cut pile.
• Contract Carpets : These are carpets designed for heavy traffic areas usually for commercial use.

They may be in form of carpet tiles or carpet sheets usually in 2m or 4m width.
There are different types and backings depending on the contract area.
